The happy Christmas of 1991, then 4-year-old budding illustrator Abby received a book written by her Aunt Brenda. A beautiful biographical picture book detailing the process of planting and growing apple trees, it became a fast favorite.  The hardcover was encased in bright green corduroy fabric emblazoned with raised fabric apples of red studded with white dots. Across the top in yellow puffy paint the title proclaimed "Abby and the Apple Trees." This book was so loved, both by Abby and her siblings, and later Abby's children, it was literally falling apart at the seams. Something needed to be done to preserve the legacy.

The quick fix was to photograph pages and print with a local photo service, but even those simple copies were quickly dog-eared. Abby gifted Brenda one of these copies in 2016 and urged her to publish this very loved story for other kids to enjoy. Brenda smiled and said, "it was your Christmas present, if you want to do that go right ahead. Although," she added, "if I remember correctly it could possibly use some updated illustrations." 

Challenge laid, Abby got to work on the slow process of re-illustrating the 1990s classic and prepping for an eventual publication. Fast-forward to 2026 and we've finally
