The primary goal I have for my writing is to turn the ideas into books my children can enjoy while they are still children. I don’t want to wait till they’re grown to write the illustrated books I’ve dreamed for them. 

Thus far, I've turned some of the bed-time stories I tell (on a nightly basis) into some rough drafts, started some illustrations, and nearly filled a notebook with ideas. 

In 2020, I “self published” a rewrite of  text to the traditional “Billy Boy.”  Illustrated with watercolored PIES (!) it was a birthday gift for my then two-year old. Seeing that book, “in the flesh” held in her hands was soooo wonderful.  It’s now time to set some more ideas down in words and make them available for the

 hearts and hands of other young readers.

This year our family welcomed baby #5, and my eldest turned nine…it’s been quite the decade! My husband and I will celebrate 12 years this summer. Time flies.

Creating art and writing are life-giving to the moments between the chaos!

Having earned a B.A. in music, my private lesson studio, Heartstrings, has been a primary focus for nearly 20 years. This year is the first year I’ve declared a “sabbatical”,  closing the doors to existing and new students outside my own circus. I chose this as a way to invest more in my own children’s musical education (we had a bit of a “cobbler's children go without shoes” situation going on for a while there) and also to allow more time for the pursuit of writing and art.

As mom of 5 little circus performers, Abby is continually on the look out for the moments of comedy midst the chaos. For the past 7 years she has turned those moments into quips, primarily about the surprises parenting has afforded her. Throughout that time, other friends "in the trenches" have offered their own "Parenthood is..." moments allowing us all an opportunity to laugh together. Because sometimes, if you don't laugh, you'll just cry.
